*Level determined by class day and time. Our Hatha-style yoga classes explore breathing techniques, posture (asana) practice and deep relaxation. Drawing from the vast array of yoga poses, each class may explore seated warm ups, twists, balance poses, and/or standing postures, working on stretching and strengthening the body. Props and modifications are incorporated in postures, allowing students to practice in comfort and at their own pace.
Core Focus Yoga
*Level 2. Incorporating the various core strengthening techniques of Yoga, Pilates, Gyrotonics, and Dance, each teacher will bring their own twist to this core-fusion class. Experience a safe and challenging workout, while further exploring how core muscles relate to and provide support in yoga poses.
*Open level. This one-hour class is perfect if you’re on a tight schedule or just need a break from work to stretch and rejuvenate. Fit it in on your lunch break!
*Level 2. By entering into a meditative state and riding our breath from one pose to the next, we get in tune with a deeper wisdom. These are the moments of connection, release, or insight that yoga promises. Yoga Flow invokes these experiences through sequences that include core strengthening, standing poses and floor work.
Slow Flow Yoga
*Level 2. This class is designed to be the perfect wake me up and get me ready for a full day of living kind of class. It will be the type of class where you feel like every inch of your body gets addressed. Parts of the class will be slow and deliberate, others will be faster and more challenging. We will focus on balance, core strength, flexibility, and deep breathing. A familiarity to basic standing and seated yoga poses is recommended.
Yoga Breath and Flow
Come and join the creative, inspiring, and empowering fun of Kripalu Yoga flow. We begin gently with an emphasis on breath, relaxation and self-acceptance by entering into a meditative state. Slowly we get in tune with a deeper wisdom inside ourselves as we ride this breath through a series of poses. These are the moments of connection, release, or insight that yoga promises. Yoga Flow invokes these experiences through sequences that include core strengthening, standing poses and floor work. We encourage learning to love and nurture your body and recognize that everyone's body is different. Yoga postures are seen not as ends in themselves but as tools to release chronic tension, stretch and strengthen the whole body and increase self-awareness. Safety through proper body alignment, and encouraging modification of postures to meet individual needs is a regular staple in this class. Human development is viewed as a natural process of growth and transformation and by nurturing the body and soothing the mind we remove stress and strain from our daily lives.
*Open Level. “Sink your shoulders. Let go of any muscular contraction. Give yourself permission to focus in on your breath. Release the desire to control. Allow gravity and the earth to introduce you to a sacred space on your mat. Be present with your most valuable asset, you.” Yin Yoga is a yoga practice designed to encourage you to let go. It targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body. Rather than engaging muscular strength and the cardiovascular system, Yin Yoga appropriately and safely exercises the body’s connective tissue. The asanas (postures) when held for an extended time create space in the body encouraging the release of tension and produce greater access for fluidity and mobility. As the body ages it dries out, through the power of the breath and a yin yoga practice, the body can nourish and replenish itself from the inside out. Yin Yoga is a passive form of asana practice in which students sink into familiar floor postures for 5-minute intervals. This practice enhances flexibility and balances the flow of energy to organ systems, literally juicing up the joints, aiming for a deep level of health and wellbeing. During the practice, the room will be cocooned by the tranquil sound of American Soul music and readings from ancient yogic philosophy and scriptures will be offered for meditation. This practice invites the student on a majestic journey into the depths of their spirituality, and provide the luxury of a much needed and well deserved vacation.
